DeepPocket was around for some time in the Thai e-wallet scene. I’ve decided to rewrite this article, because almost everything that I wrote before about the app is not actual anymore. The most important it looks like the app listen it users and improved a lot, so it currently can create a good value for visitors in Thailand.
Why forigners are foreigners so interested in a good ewallet solution in Thailand? There is one answer Thai QR Code Payments with PromptPay. For a long time, the only option to use QR payments in Thailand was to open a bank account. A lot of foreigners and all tourists simply can’t open a local bank account. Not many places offer credit card payments, even fewer places offer that without additinal charge. As a result, most visitors needed to use ATMs with a 250 THB (2026) fee.
DeepPocket is the first e-wallet that allows for easy registration for foreigners. I’ve just registered for the app and managed to pass KYC in 3 minutes; everything is pretty automated and easy. You need a Passport + a second ID (e.g. your local ID or Driving Licence). Users on every visa can register, visa is not checked.

After passing KYC can see a few options: virtual card (can add to Google Play Wallet), Topup account and Scan (to pay).
Top Ups
There are 3 options for top up: Credit cards, Local mobile bank app and Cash top up in Local points. The most important one is an international option, because the whole goal of using an e-wallet is not walking with tons of cash or skipping the high ATM fees for cash withdrawals. Currently (2026), there is 4.5% fee for credit card top-ups is a bit high, but it can actually work for many people. When? Simply for small transactions/cash withdrawals, e.g. if you take 5250 THB from the ATM and pay around 250 THB ATM fee, then your fee will be similar to 4.5%. (This projection doesn’t include foreign card ATM fees on the card provider side.

Scanning PromptPay QR codes
Some other ewallets have a problem working with private PromptPay QR codes in Thailand. What is important, DeepPocket works with both private and business PromptPay QR codes. That means that using it, you can pay everywhere in Thailand. Both in small street food stalls and expensive fancy cafes thatdo not accept cash.
Summary:
Deepocket is an interesting new wallet for foreigners in Thailand. What is important is possible to top it up with forign credit card. The current fee is a bit high, but I believe it can be a good solution for people who hate carrying tons of cash everywhere or in cases where they can’t find an ATM around. KYS is easy and quick, and there are no visa restrictions for registration. I definitely recomend to download the app and trying it yourself.
